Caintech Ltd was responsible for all setting out of the main 2.0m diameter aquaduct pipeline from intake one to intake four. This entailed providing a fulltime presence onsite to set out or survey the following;
The work corridor and excavation extents
Survey all levels and calculate excavation quantities
Blast lines and depths for box out and pipe track
As-built surveys of pipe, til and topsoil/peat
We also surveyed and produced as-built drawings for all of the access roads and intake pipelines. The quantities had to be reviewed for progress and re-measures.
This was challenging work to achieve accurate surveys in extreme weather and difficult terrain. As we were required to survey areas that were considered to be both inaccessible and unsafe, we utilised the Trimble Total Station surface scanning ability, enabling a complete rockface to be surveyed while ensuring the safety of our staff.
The Glendoe Hydro Scheme allowed Caintech Ltd to demonstrate to our clients that we could provide our wide set of surveying services in very extreme climates and landscapes.
